I was having a few girlfriends over for brunch a few weekends ago and wanted to offer my friends an assortment of flavors to add to their coffee. My friends are just like me… we love our flavored coffee. So I decided to make a syrup for each of them to use and take home. Carri loves maple syrup, Marianne loves peppermint and Cathy can not get enough of vanilla. They were so surprised at how easy it was to make and how delicious it was added into our coffees. I hope you will give these a try. If you aren’t a fan of these flavors, experiment with extracts. Orange, hazelnut and almond are next up in our house. I’ll let you know how they come out.
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- Vanilla extract
- Peppermint extract
- Maple syrup
- 3 bottles
- Chalkboard stickers
- Paint pen
- Peppermint Syrup: 1.5 tablespoons of peppermint extract
- Maple Syrup: 3 tablespoons vanilla extract and 1/4 cup maple syrup
- Vanilla Syrup: 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
Put sugar and water into a saucepan and bring to a gentle boil, stirring often.
Once the sugar is completely dissolved, continue with specializing the flavors of each syrup. You will need one cup of water and one cup of sugar for each syrup.
Peppermint syrup: add peppermint extract to water and sugar mixture and stir.
Maple syrup: add maple syrup to the sugar and water mixture and stir.
Vanilla syrup: add vanilla extract to the sugar and water mixture and stir.
