I wanted to surprise the hubby and kids with a mouth-watering, super indulgent treat and the words ‘Giant Peanut Butter Cups’ came to mind. I’ve made homemade peanut butter cups for special occasions before and thought I’d kick it up a notch and add chocolate chip cookies to the mix. I baked some store-bought cookie dough and added them as the secret ingredient to these giant peanut butter cups and they were a knock out in our household. This treat is super easy and a yummy, so break out those stretchy pants and get ready to get your snack on!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- 1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup of peanut butter
- Cupcake wrappers
- 1 tube of store-bought chocolate chip cookie dough
Melt ½ of your chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave in a glass bowl at 20 second intervals until completely melted. Pour the melted chocolate into the cupcake wrappers and swirl until the chocolate covers all the sides of the wrapper. Set aside to cool.
Once cooled, add a layer of chocolate chip cooked and then a layer of peanut butter to the top of all the cups. Once they’re all filled, melt the other half of the chocolate and top the cups off with the remaining melted chocolate. Place in the refrigerator to harden and serve immediately, or store them in the fridge until you’re ready to enjoy. I suggest taking them out of the fridge for about 20 minutes or so before eating so the chocolate softens a little bit first. Enjoy—these are out of this world!
