In honor of Mother’s Day week, I wanted to make something for my kids that my mom used to make for us when I was younger. It’s a super simple one pot recipe, but it’s so incredibly delicious. Best thing about this recipe is clean up is a breeze! I can still hear my mom calling, “Meat and macaroni is done…come and get it!” Hope you enjoy this as much as I do, and Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- 2 1/2 pounds of lean ground turkey
- 1 whole chopped onion
- 3 cans (8 oz. each) tomato sauce
- 1 cup water
- 2 boxes of macaroni
- 1 chopped red pepper
- 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 3 tablespoons of garlic powder
- 3 tablespoons of onion powder
- 1 diced green onion for garnish
In a large skillet, cook the turkey, onion and seasonings until the meat is browned and onion is tender. Stir in the remaining ingredients and bring it all to a slow boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until the macaroni is tender. Add additional water if needed and serve immediately. You can top it off with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese or some chopped green onions.
