If you are looking for a sweet treat to make this Valentine’s day, look no further. This is the perfect combo of sweet and salty and looks pretty cute. These would be great to give as class gifts for your child’s classmates or as part of a homemade Valentine’s Day gift basket. I made a bunch of these and added them to a MPH Barn Box with a gift card to the movies. It makes a sweet and fun gift for a loved one on Valentine’s Day. Feel free to get creative and add whatever you want to your mix. You could add peanuts, pretzels etc. Now get to poppin!
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:
- 10 cups of popped popcorn
- 3 tbsp. butter (sweet cream, salted)
- 3 cups mini marshmallows
- ½ bag Pretzel M&M’s
- ½ bag Valentine’s Mix M&M’s
- ½ bag Caramel M&M’s
Start by melting 3 tablespoons of butter in a medium saucepan. Once the butter is melted, add 3 cups of mini marshmallows. Stir until the marshmallows are melted. Turn off the heat as soon as the last marshmallow are melted.
In a large bowl, add the popcorn and then slowly pour the marshmallow mixture over the salted popcorn. Gently fold the marshmallow mixture in until the popcorn is mostly covered.
Next, pour the popcorn onto a cookie sheet covered with foil. Immediately pour the candy onto the warm sticky popcorn, making sure to incorporate the candy into the popcorn mixture. Allow the Popcorn mix to cool.
Once cooled, add to a clear bag and package it with a cute festive Valentine’s ribbon.
